Playa del Carmen, el que fuera un pequeño pueblo pesquero es hoy uno de los principales destinos turísticos a nivel mundial. Sin embargo, sigue siendo ese paraíso que elegimos para fundar Casa Latina. Te presentamos algunos datos interesantes acerca de nuestra pequeña-gran ciudad en El Caribe.

 

  • Antes de llamarse Playa del Carmen (Municipio de Solidaridad), a esta región se le conocía como Xaman Ha, que significa: Agua del norte.
  • Según datos del INEGI (Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía), Playa del Carmen recibió en promedio, 39 nuevos habitantes diarios durante siete años, 2003 a 2010.
  • De aproximadamente 10 mil habitantes en el año 1996, Playa del Carmen pasó a tener 209,634 en 2015, según el censo del INEGI.
  • El porcentaje entre mujeres y hombres que habitan en el municipio es de 49.9 y 50.1 respectivamente.
  • El mayor porcentaje de los habitantes tiene entre 20 y 24 años de edad.
  • Hasta 2019, se tenían registrados 276 hoteles en Playa del Carmen, poco más de 40 mil cuartos.
  • De acuerdo con el censo de población realizado en el municipio el año 2014, en Playa del Carmen el 60.4 % de la población es no nativa y el 10.9 % es inmigrante.
  • La temperatura promedio anual es de 25.8°C y la humedad por arriba del 80%.
  • No hay UBER en Playa del Carmen, menos Cabify, ni DiDi, ni nada que no sean taxis horribles, caros y con pésimo servicio (salvo alguna rarísima excepción).
