En Casa Latina hemos detectado que, en Playa del Carmen, y Riviera Maya en general, el uso de la madera es cada día más común. Con la cantidad de construcciones y nuevos proyectos, la demanda se incrementa con cada habitación nueva. Sin embargo, no todos saben de maderas y hay algunos datos curiosos con relación a este material inigualable.

Hay que dejar en claro que la madera es uno de los recursos naturales que más se explota en la actualidad, por lo mismo, ya hay planes de control a nivel mundial para que el uso de este material sea sostenible.

Dentro de las maderas más exclusivas del planeta está la llamada Marfil Rosa, utilizada desde hace más de dos siglos. Dicho material se encuentra en África y se utiliza como parte de joyería fina y también en algunos bolígrafos de súper lujo.

Muebles y joyas que se hacen con madera

El Sándalo es otra de las maderas más cotizadas. Debido a su resistencia y a su inconfundible aroma, es una de las favoritas. Algunos aceites esenciales se extraen del Sándalo.

El Corazón Púrpura proviene de Sudamérica y, como su nombre lo dice, es de tonos morados o púrpuras. Se utiliza para fabricar muchos tipos de mobiliario y también para ornamentos.

El caso de la madera de Agar es muy interesante. Produce la nota olfativa conocida ampliamente en perfumería como Oud y por otros nombres como Agarwood, Oudh o Calambac. Es un tipo de madera que produce naturalmente el árbol Aquilaria, y se considera una de las materias primas naturales más caras que se utilizan para la elaboración de perfumes.

El ébano es una madera cuyo color es uno de los negros más intensos que se conocen, y por su densidad muy alta (es una de las pocas maderas que se hunden en el agua, ya que casi todas las maderas tienen una densidad menor a la del agua), su buena textura y su capacidad de pulido muy suave es muy estimada como madera preciosa.

Es el Nogal la madera noble de referencia en España. Su tonalidad está cerca del chocolate. Se usa principalmente en ebanistería, aunque también es frecuente verla en pisos de lujo.

Hablando de la Teca, también una opción de gran calidad si de muebles se trata. Es resistente, pero principalmente es imputrescible (no se pudre), por ello se usa en las situaciones más adversas, e incluso en construcción de barcos.
